We are back

Back from France...
We have some fun and some not so fun stories about France! Actually the coolest (literally and figuratively) thing that we saw in France was the frost! We were in the most rural place I have been in a long time. It would take us 25 minutes just to get to a small village for some shopping! So instead of city life,
we were surrounded by hills and vineyards! And for about one whole week, the weather was so cold that a hoarfrost stayed on the trees and ground. It was cold!
Mike and Bridget Cross were the couple we stayed with, Joel knew them from our church here in Brighton. And they have this dog called Cassie, who by the way is the MOST spoiled dog EVER. But every morning she greeted me with her squeaky hedgehog and wanted me to play with her!

The house we were staying at was so beautiful, it was this little bungalow! With dark, dark wooden Ceiling beams and stone walls!! And all the doors and windows, these amazing wooden shutters!
The weirdest thing about France is that everything shuts down at noon, and doesn't open again until 2pm. They have a big lunch, families get together eat and be merry, and then they get on with their day! Very strange.. and annoying sometimes!

The first few days we were there, the weather was amazing! Very sunny and warm for December! It was actually colder in the house then it was outside! So we sat outside on the veranda all day!

And then the frost came... well I didn't prepare for this and at one time I had 8 layers on... but boy was I warm! The frost lasted for more than a week... and it got thicker every day... and then one day the fog and clouds lifted and all day it sounded like it was raining or snowing but it was the frost falling from the trees!

We would go on walks almost every day.. of course Cassie would come as well! Joel helped Mike cut down trees and get fire wood! We got to sample the best of French wines and cheeses!! I am now a huge fan of cheese!! I really like sheep cheese.. who knew?
We went to this city that was perched on a hill, and was completely circular and all the houses, shops ect. faced in.. towards the town centre... but the coolest thing is that right by the village church there was this car park and this work of art that was part of the car park

Hmmm... I think that might be all now!! But I am going to upload a video of Cassie being "tough" with her squeaky hedgehog!

Isn't it too bad that the best experiences in life are lost on us because we are looking for something else? People pay lot o money to spend Christmas in the countryside of France, with vinyards and cheese and fat dogs. Can we somehow just learn to live in the moment, accepting the wonder of life as it is presented?
Not that you didn't, but I do this. What a great time you both must have had... a memory for life. Thanks to your friends for putting up with you two!

Hey!

This is Leah Moreton's sister. I saw your comment on her blog about her e-mail address. Someone hijacked her e-mail address, as well as e-bay account, so she had to change her e-mail address. Soooo, her blog is linked to her old e-mail, and therfore she can no longer post on it because whoever took her e-mail address changed the password...Bummer!! Her new e-mail is: leahmariemoreton@gmail.com
