Look at how niave and happy we look.. little did we know this would be the day from hell.
So today we had to make our way to London to register Violet as an American citizen and apply for her passport. We had to wake up very early this morning, around 5.30am to get our train. Once we got to the train station at 6.30, we had to pay top price for our London tickets; seriously I didn't almost fainted when I found out how much we had to pay...anywho!
Once we got to London we had to take the underground to our destination. But the problem is we decided to take our stroller instead of the baby Bjorn because Violet would have gotten really sick of being held like that and we would all have gotten super hot. So we had to find our way through very, very, very busy rush hour human traffic on the underground with our big stroller. Seriously the looks and huffs and puffs we got... it was annoying, I gave many people very sweaty angry looks after they complained passively. Though saying that I would have been one of those people a few years earlier!! The underground, rightly so, does not cater to strollers so we had to go up and down many many stairs, so we got very sweaty!
Finally we get to the US Embassy, which is huge, really huge...and wait in line outside for people to check our passports and then do a security check on us... and then we go inside.and immeditaly Violet starts crying, really hard. So I go to change her, as I undress her, she starts laughing and cooing... she thinks its naked time. So when I put her clothes back on, she just gets even madder. Then we go upstairs to the passport services, and we got in line to get a number to stand in line again... and we find its like 100 degrees in this place, Violet is screaming now at this point and we have a huge amount of stuff that just vomited as I try to get our paper work out and get her comfortable. Finally we meet with a guy and he goes over our paper work, and he tells us to sit down and WAIT again for our number to be called. Violet by the way is still screaming... we strip her, because she is very hot... our baby doesn't scream like this usually...
I am getting looks from people and other parents who are doing the same thing registering their babies. These people's looks are like, oh I am so glad my baby is better than that one, I wish they would shut her up, ect, ect... well I just hate those people... Violet was just mad.
And then Violet poops... and let me tell you she poops big time. But neither of us can leave the room until this whole process is over. I had to find a little corner to change her in..and I had to change her on a very hard and cold concrete floor. The poop was everywhere, and got on the floor and all over the place... luckily I brought two extra changes of clothing!
After this.. she was in a good mood for a while, playing laughing, having fun. And then suddenly she freaks out again... parents looking, tutting and being annoyed with us.
It was close to her feeding time, so I start to feed her, but she is still so hot, she is really frustrated and had a hard time eating..finally she settles down and starts eating, and our name and number is called... of course! Well both of us had to go up there to sign forms, and such... so I had to stand up, while feeding her (covered up of course) and walk over to the window. Then the lady who was 'helping' us, said, I have to see Violet's face, you will have to stop feeding her. I look at her with daggers...and take Violet off..she is of course really mad and upset...and is all red in the face! But goes on really easy and eats like nuts. Then I had to some how sign like four forms while standing and feeding her... that sucked.
Finally we were able to leave. I burp V, and we are off home... and of course she is asleep, quiet and happy.
And then on the way home, we took a bus..we should have done that the first time! But on our way home, Violet was happy, playing, laughing and a good baby.
Overall it was a terrible, terrible day! I cannot believe how awful it was.
Obviously Violet did not like London, and we won't be going back for a long time!!
